REVERSE ENGINEERING
REVERSE ENGINEERING
Project Summary- Pick an object, disassemble it and sketch out each piece on paper. Then, we 3D modeled each part in Inventor and the attempted to make an assembly. We also made technical drawing of each part, a presentation file and a video.
Our Project- We chose to use "The Sharper Image Maze Game Challenger" which is a 3D maze ball game.
How is the ball produced?
It is made of plastic because it needs to be rigid and cheap. It is manufactured using injection molding. Injection molding is used to produce the same part many times by pouring liquid plastic or another material into a metal mold. Examples of other objects created with injection molding are plastic combs and one piece chairs.

Description
There is a clear outer sphere and many arcs and circles that snap or screw together. There are red, black, grey and white pieces to give it appeal and so you can distinguish between the parts better when you are playing the game.
Improvements

Improvements
We made very few improvements to the 3D maze. One improvement was to take out the loop that transitioned between two parallel tracks that were one width apart. We replaced it with a simpler track that is a S shaped curve. We also made a few of the walls slightly higher than they really were so the game would be easier to finish.

Goal of the Game
The goal is to roll the ball along the track withour the ball falling off all the way to the finish by rotating the sphere.
